What We Believe
We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, to be the only inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative Word of God written. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful man regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling power and fullness the Christian is enabled to live a godly life in the present evil world. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in Christ.
Because Christ said, “Go and make disciples of all nations,” RBC maintains an active missions program, supporting over 25 missionaries and their children financially and with prayer in 18 countries. Additionally, we give to many home mission projects and mission organizations to meet spiritual and physical needs. We also send monthly support to two Bible colleges.
Need A Home Church?
. . . If you do not have a church home here in the Riverside area where you are happily and actively engaged in Christian service, you may feel the Spirit‘s leadership to make Riverside Baptist your church. If so, we invite you to present yourself for membership on one of the following invitations. . . . If you have never publicly acknowledged Christ as Lord and Savior, you may be saved now by calling upon God to save you as you accept Christ as Personal Savior. Then present yourself for believer‘s baptism. . . . If you are a born again Christian and a member of another church of like faith, you are invited to present yourself for membership upon a promise of your letter from that church. . . . If you have been saved and baptized by immersion in believer‘s baptism and are not now active, you may come into our fellowship upon a statement of faith.
Opportunities to Minister
The following information will reflect some of the ministries that are available to you at Riverside Baptist Church. Early Childhood: This includes children, birth through kindergarten. We have two nurseries to serve you, ranging from a crib nursery to a toddlers nursery for children 12 to 21 months old. We hope that they will serve as an extension of your home, providing quality care and security for your child. Bible stories, directed play time, craft activities, and music are all part of our Sunday School at 10:00 am and Church time at 11:00 am, for children 2 to 5 years of age. Elementary: Bible studies, learning activities, Scripture memory, worship and music are all part of our Sunday School at 10:00 am. Primary and Junior Churches are held during the 11:00 am worship hour for children in grades 1-6. The Awana Program is offered each Wednesday (Sept.-June) at 6:30 pm for children ages 3 years through 6th grade. This fun-filled and Scripture-structured group will be a real ‘plus’ as your child learns and grows in the Lord. Junior High and High School meet separately for Sunday School at 10:00 am. They teach Biblical Christianity as they gather for singing, skits and exploring God’s Word to understand how Christ wants them to follow Him as Lord. J.A.M. is held each Wednesday at 6:30 pm. An active game and sports time is followed by a Bible study that is directed just for our youth and the challenges they must face. The Homebuilders Class is made up primarily of young couples and singles. The teaching touches on a variety of Christian concerns. They also have many social and ministry activities that help them become involved with the needs of one another and the needs of others. The Adult Bible Class is taught by our Pastor, Dr. Russell Gordon. The class features solid Bible teaching and spiritual growth through the Word. There is a blend of age groups and marital status and offers a well-balanced ministry of learning, supporting and outreach.”
